Gemma holds a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and is valuable member of the Invivo team. Using a Person-Centred approach to counselling, Gemma’s style is professional yet warm and friendly. She adopts a non-judgmental and empathic approach to help clients to feel heard and understood. Her work is client-led, which lets the client bring what they want to work with, meeting it with compassion and respect, and helping them to move forward with their difficulties to make positive changes in their lives.
Gemma enjoys working with individual adults one-to-one, and has experience of working with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, anger and self-image. Her work as a counsellor with SEED in Hull afforded her valuable experience of working with self-esteem, addictions and eating disorders. Other experience saw her providing counselling at HMP Leeds to help clients work through a range of complex issues. In addition to her counselling experience, Gemma also brings with her a background of care and nursing, and a strong awareness of mental health care practice.
Gemma is a member of the BACP and adheres to their Ethical Framework for safe practice. She abides GDPR Data Protection regulations, holds an Enhanced DBS Certificate and is fully insured through Holistic Insurance Services. Gemma is available daytime and evenings during weekdays and Saturdays.
