Get the Right Support, Right Here in Selby
Whether you're a young person who's feeling overwhelmed or a parent trying to support your child, you're not alone. At Invivo Therapies, we offer counselling for young people in Selby in a safe, friendly, and down-to-earth environment. No jargon. No judgement. Just proper support that works for real life.
We understand that taking the first step can feel like a big deal — especially if you've never tried therapy before or you're not sure what to expect. Our goal is to make that step feel a little less scary.
What We Help With

Life throws up all sorts of challenges, especially during childhood, teenage years, and early adulthood. You (or your child) might be feeling:
-
Anxious or constantly worried
-
Low, flat, or stuck
-
Angry or frustrated more often than usual
-
Lonely or disconnected
-
Struggling after a big change like a family split, bereavement, bullying or school stress
Whatever’s going on, talking to someone outside your family or school can make a huge difference. Our counsellors are trained, friendly, and here to listen without pressure.
What to Expect from Young People’s Counselling
First things first: it’s completely private
We take confidentiality seriously. What you (or your child) say in a session stays between you and your counsellor, unless there's a safety risk, in which case we’ll talk you through the next steps together.
You’re in control
It’s flexible
Short or longer term, it’s up to you
We don’t make anyone talk about anything they’re not ready to. You set the pace, and we’ll follow your lead.
Sessions can happen in-person at our Selby location or online if that’s easier. We offer early evening slots too — ideal if school or work makes daytime tricky.
Some people benefit from just a few sessions. Others prefer more regular support. We’ll work with you to decide what fits.
Support for Parents & Carers
If you're a parent or carer, it’s natural to feel unsure about how to help, or worried you’ve done something wrong. But the fact you're here means you're already doing something right.
Our role isn’t to judge. It’s to support you and your child through whatever they’re dealing with, and give you tools to understand what’s going on. We know some young people are up for counselling, and others are reluctant. We can help you open up that conversation gently.
Need to chat it through first? Give us a ring. No pressure.

FAQs About Counselling for Young People
What age ranges do you support?
We offer counselling to young people aged 11–25. We also support parents of younger children looking for advice and guidance.
How do I know if counselling is right for my child?
If your child is showing signs of stress, anxiety, withdrawal or just “not being themselves”, talking therapy can help. You don’t need a diagnosis to get started, just a sense that something doesn’t feel right.
Do you work with schools or GPs?
Yes. We can liaise with schools, GPs or other professionals if that’s helpful — but only with your consent.
What’s the difference between you and CAMHS?
CAMHS usually supports young people with more severe mental health needs, often after a GP referral. We provide early, flexible, private support for everyday emotional difficulties, without long wait times.
Can I stay with my child during sessions?
We offer flexible options. Some young people prefer their parent/carer nearby for the first session, others like to go it alone. We’ll work with whatever helps them feel safest.
How much does it cost?
Our sessions start from £45 per session. We’ll discuss options with you and never push you into something that doesn’t suit your budget.
